Vision

Our objective is the professional reintegration of persons in difficulty through actions of careful evaluation and concrete support in view of recovering potential and capacity.

Achieving this target means taking individually care of every person and to always develop new operational strategies in step with the requirements of the labour market, with the worker’s peculiarities, with the deep human and social significance of reintegration.

We are working to give answers to difficult situations. Thus we take inspiration from a pressing logic of sensitivity and realism: being the connecting link between the worker who suffers from illness or accident and the company. We are convinced that individual ‘tailor-made’ solutions work and that standard measures do not apply.

Mission

Support and complete advice to the persons and to the companies in view of work placement or of professional reintegration of people with health problems.

SIL is a team of professionals of various competences able to provide instruments and find suitable strategies in order to recommend solutions to the problems of physically or psychically fragile workers in all employment sectors.

In compliance with the values and the spirit of SIL, welcoming and action in a ‘one-to-one relationship’ are the fundamental trumps which allow us a careful and specialized observation, the search for concrete results, an effective targeting of the peculiarities of the person and of his/her employment perspectives.

For SIL there are no statistical cases, but individualities to be ascertained, followed and led to a possible new solution or professional recovery.

Skills

SIL’s consultants always adopt a practical approach, as the ultimate goal is to reach a maximum possible recovery of the effective working capacities. To study and to develop technical solutions, especially concerning the implementation of personalised auxiliary means, implies an accurate ascertainment of the person’s physical, psychological and mental problem. And it means to consequently understand the working dimension and the related necessities.

The method of specific observation, of human relation with the worker, of knowledge of the tasks, is what drives us to targeted interventions. Sometimes it is possible to nearly completely restore the abilities, sometimes a partial reactivation of the capacities can be achieved, while other times a new and different area of competences and working functionality may be found, being all the same suitable to a professional reintegration.

The SIL consultants relate to every single person and look after him/her during the process of recovery, being able to accurately identify the answers and to lead the person towards the achievable goals.

Sometimes carrying out the work task is not impossible. Because of illness or injury, the worker can only continue to accomplish his/her duties by using work equipment having partially been modified and adapted to his/her condition and to his/her handicap. In that case, SIL proposes to always make every necessary assessment of the specific case, so that the person may overcome the difficulty and achieve professional reintegration, including study and application of appropriate adjustments to the equipment which will allow to bridge the difficulty in a functional way.

The hindrance in performing working tasks may be adequately overcome and sorted out by concretely identifying which actions may restore in full, or at least partially support, the person’s capacities. The aim that we pursue, besides the essential human value of the worker and of his/her prospect of occupation, is also to allow the companies not to deprive themselves of the professionalism and the experience of workers in difficult conditions.

Offering answers that can satisfy work requirements when faced with a disabling condition means many things, from welcoming and interacting in order to understand the person’s real condition, the physical and psychological state, the residual potential, the specific needs, to the study of aids, prostheses and orthoses. Increasingly tailor-made. More and more designed for the individual and his/her actual context.

SIL’s conception, strongly orientated to recovery and reintegration, is a concrete action conceived for each individual worker. This kind of approach is the one we want to implement more and more, in a non-standard way and determined to find and apply advanced, innovative techniques fully adjusted to the specific difficulty, to the disablement, to the illness and truly related to the activities that the person in question must and can carry out.

Beyond what is produced in series, the needs of the workers in fact often require personalised and finalised systems, equipments, machines, mechanisms and adjustments.

Our ambition is not to back off from the downside of a handicap, but to think beyond, study the necessary result and develop “the missing piece” in order to close the gap, restore the possibilities to carry out the movements and actions of the job in an exact manner, thus making up for the loss of work ability.

We are already using digital technologies a lot – particularly the 3D printing – which considerably reduces production costs and always offers new opportunities. In these sectors, the collaboration with specialized organizations is of utmost importance for the perspectives of evolution of the technical solutions that SIL pursues.
